Recent Government research has identified that there is a growing problem associated with Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills in the workplace. It is reported that this problem is impacting on the performance and profitability of organisations across all industries.
To ensure that the Waste Industry is able to satisfy this critical development need WamCal is working with WAMITAB to deliver teaching qualifications to workplace trainers and assessors. Our Education & Training Manager, Darcy Bertie has gained a level 3 Support Tutor qualification and is now working towards a level 4 teaching qualification; she is also working with the London South Bank University Teacher Training Department (LLU+) on a WAMITAB funded pilot project to provide level 3 support teacher qualifications to WAMITAB centre staff and assessors from across the whole of the UK.
This programme will enable successful candidates to provide Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills teaching with the support of appropriately qualified subject specialists approved by WAMITAB. Training programmes are being developed for delivery to the growing number of employees in the industry from overseas who may need some tutoring in the English language. |
